That’s George Washington Lying Bleeding on the Battlefield — and It’s Part of a New Trailer for the Latest Dinesh D’Souza Movie

Conservative scholar and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza on Friday debuted a new trailer for his upcoming film “America” at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
The trailer depicts George Washington shot on a Revolutionary War battlefield and presumably dying…
…followed by icons such as the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore and the Washington Monument disintegrating into dust.

Then D’Souza, in a voiceover, poses the question: “What would the world look like if America did not exist?”
“Even though we made a mainstream movie that is for all Americans, we know that it will especially resonate with our conservative friends,” D’Souza told the Hollywood Reporter. “We are proud to debut our trailer at what is effectively their Super Bowl.”
“America” is set to open July 4 with producers including Grey Frederickson, who won a best picture Oscar for “The Godfather Part II,” and Gerald Molen, who won a best picture Oscar for “Schindler’s List.”
Molen, who produced D’Souza’s first feature, “2016,” said this latest project is “a love story about America — what she has meant to us, what she’s done for us and what she expects of us.”
D’Souza pleaded not guilty to charges that he violated campaign finance laws after a January arrest. He was released on $500,000 bond, and his trial is set to start May 19 in New York.
D’Souza’s “2016″ took in $33 million at the domestic box office, becoming the second-most popular political documentary of all time behind Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11.”
