"And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh." -Jude 1:23

If there’s one thing that’s great about America, it’s our stories of redemption.
Americans intrinsically love stories about people who fall and pick themselves back up. We love hearing testimonies of the broken–those who were down in the dumps but realized their full potential and completely changed their lives around for the good. Interestingly enough, the Bible is filled with examples of God using what society would consider “screwed up people” to do absolutely amazing things. And that’s still occurring today. That’s the thing about humanity. We don’t really change.
This is another perfect story about the power of redemption. Ex-porn star Brittni Ruiz started down the dangerous and lonely path when she was just 14. She was eventually offered a job at a porn studio. They told her she would make tons of money, and she believed them but didn’t consider the consequences. Growing up, she didn’t really know God, but she wanted to. But after she was deep in the industry, she didn’t think Jesus could love her– a porn star.

From Western Journalism:
“In the beginning, I felt beautiful. I felt like I found my self-worth,” Ruiz said during an interview on The View. But that quickly changed. “After a while I felt destroyed. It was torture for seven years. I was miserable, I was lonely.”
She wanted to get out of the industry, but she didn’t know how. When she was at one of her lowest points, she pulled out her Bible and God gave her a revelation.
On the plane, high on drugs, Ruiz pulled out the Bible and began to read from the second chapter of the Book of Revelation where it talks about a woman, Jezebel, who had been deceiving people into committing sexual immorality and was not willing to repent.
Ruiz remembers thinking:
I’m that woman. That’s me. I am leading people into adultery every single day… [N]ow that I know, I know that I’m not supposed to be doing this. This is not my purpose. This is not my calling. I am not meant to be a porn star. I’m not meant to be a prostitute. These are not the things I’m supposed to be doing with my life… I’m meant to help people, I’m not meant to hurt them.
Ruiz is now free from the darkness. She loves Jesus and uses her testimony to help other girls who want to get out of the porn industry.
“But Jesus does love me,” Ruiz said. “Regardless of where I am or what I’ve done. He loves me regardless.”
