Most of us know the verse from 2 Timothy 3 very well. So well its easy to pass over the words without the impact.:
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.Paul lists at least 18, possibly 19 works of unrighteousness and then tells us to turn away from people that practice these. Each one of these could be a very long sermon in and of themselves in relationship to what we are witnessing in society today.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
These works bring death and destroy a person and therefore a family, a city, a nation.
They stand in stark opposition to the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) which promotes life and is a gift of the Holy Spirit.
How prophetically accurate is God's word in such a time as this? -W.E.
